Books, Books, Books!

I love to read. I love to write. Here, I wanted to share with you
pictures of some of my collection, plus some of my favorite
books.

These little dears are on my bookshelf.

I found this at V-Stock. It's based on radio play
scripts voiced by Basil Rathbone and Nigel
Bruce, my favorite Holmes and Watson duo.
After reading this book and listening to other
uploaded ones on YouTube, it makes me
really wish they'd movies of some of them!

Definitely!

This is a great book for dog lovers. It tells true accounts of
dogs and how they've rescued people literally and figuratively.
It explains how God uses dogs to minister to people, and are
reflections in many different ways of how God directs His care
for us to us.

One of the best books I've ever read. It also has more plot
details that may not make sense in the movie, but they will
once you read the book.

This one is wonderful. I haven't read it all the way through yet,
because I want to get the full depth every time I read a chapter.

Ooo, yeah!! Only one more to add to it, then I'll have them all!
This is so one of my top favorite book series. They inspire, encourage,
and at times convict, but most of all, they encourage me! And I
feel like the characters are part of my life. Best thing about these
stories, they're all true! God bless you, Dr. Lesslie, and keep
serving Him.

My top 3 favorites.

This one had some great stories.

The best one yet! I got it for Christmas of 2014,
and this one was thrilling. Dr. Lesslie doesn't
just talk  about the physical side of the ER, he
talks about the people he works with, the people
who have passed through their lives, and the many
different and at times overlooked ways God has
used them in each other's lives.

  1. I love reading, too! I read all the Sherlock Holmes stories as a child, and enjoyed them all, so I agree with you as to how good they are. I haven't read any of the other books you mention, though (except Pollyanna, which I also read as a child). I think I saw the film of that too. Glad to see you have a first aid book - such a useful and possibly life-saving skill to have.

Have you read 'Little House in the Big Woods' or any of the other books in the series? They're true American classics, and I think you're enjoy reading them very much. I really recommend them. :)

  2. Hi Rebecca,

I forgot to say in my last post, but I also recommend the book 'Lassie Come-Home'. It's a children's book, but still worth reading as an adult. :)

  3. I read Pollyanna when I was about 8 and I loved the movie that Disney made from the book. I've got over 800 books on my Kindle. Have read most of them.
When I was teaching kids, I always brought my Shel Silverstein anthology with me, I love the Giving Tree.,and Where the Sidewalk ends. This is one of my favorite poems:

    HUG O' WAR
I will not play at tug o'war
I'd rather play at hug o'war
    Where everyone hugs
    instead of tugs,
    Where everyone giggle
    And rolls on the rug,
    Where everyone kisses,
    And everyone grins,
    And everyone cuddles,
    And everyone wins.

Glad to see you had a great holiday.

  5. Rebecca,

Merry Christmas. I can't find an email address on your blog so I'm commenting here instead. Just to say that I sent you a copy of 'Lassie-Come-Home' as a small gift to congratulate you on passing your GED. I remembered recommending 'Lassie-Come-Home' in a comment I wrote earlier in the year, and thought you might like the book if you hadn't read it already.

I wanted to include a note to explain that I'm a blog reader who wanted to send you a little something to recognise you passing your GED, but the Amazon website wouldn't let me include one. Instead, I thought maybe if you posted on the blog about it then I would comment to explain. I know you probably wondered who had sent you the parcel, and I'm really sorry if you got in trouble or were freaked out by receiving something out of the blue. That possibility didn't occur to me when I sent it. It's just it was near Christmas and I like giving people nice surprises. I've never sent a blogger something before, and maybe got a bit carried away.

    Blessings,

    Kate (from England)

    1. Yes, I did get the book. Thank you! That was very thoughtful of you. Yes, I've read the novel once, and we've had the movie for years. I love collies. I was curious who sent it to me. It arrived on Christmas Eve and Annah and Dad said that they didn't order it. As you know, I also like books.

I don't usually share my email on the blog, but mine is : GIL1john4@charter.net. You're welcome to email me. I'd like that. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Love, Rebecca
